This resource falls under the following categories:

M-Lab provides the largest collection of open Internet performance data on the planet. As a consortium of research, industry, and public-interest partners, M-Lab is dedicated to providing an ecosystem for the open, verifiable measurement of global network performance.

To learn more about how to use M-Lab to assess and analyze network measurement data, you can also watch Module 4 of the OPTIMA Network Measurement Training below.

This module provides a high-level introduction on how to measure Internet performance and Internet speeds using Measurement Lab’s browser-based measurement tools. Christ Ritzo of M-Lab walk through a tutorial on how to use this tool to collect new data, as well as how you can access existing data to support your research. He also discuss how governments are able to “throttle” Internet speeds and some of the challenges with measuring instances of throttling.
